What we do

End-to-end, from concept to production

We don’t hand off wireframes. We build working systems and the infrastructure beneath them.

Custom Software Development

Full-stack applications tailored to your operational needs. Real-time dashboards, internal tools, and client-facing platforms built with modern frameworks and deployed to scale.

SaaS Products

Hosted software solutions you subscribe to, not maintain. Our products handle the complexity so your team can focus on the work that matters.

Technical Consulting

Architecture reviews, technology selection, and strategic planning. We help you make the right infrastructure decisions before the first line of code or cable run.

Network Design & Engineering

Complete network architecture from topology design through installation. Switches, firewalls, VPNs, monitoring — engineered for reliability at scale.

Data Center Design

Facility planning, power distribution, cooling architecture, and rack layout. We design data centers that run efficiently and grow with your capacity needs.

Network Installation

Hands-on deployment of the systems we design. Structured cabling, rack builds, switch configuration, firewall rules, and validation testing — turnkey delivery.

Security Camera Installation

IP camera systems designed for full-site coverage. PoE infrastructure, NVR configuration, remote viewing setup, and integration with existing network and access control systems.

Door Access Control

Keycard, fob, and biometric access systems for facilities of any size. Zone-based permissions, audit logging, and remote management for multi-site operations.

Environment Monitoring

Temperature, humidity, airflow, and power monitoring with automated alerting. Purpose-built for server rooms, data centers, and climate-sensitive facilities.

How we work

From conversation to production

Every engagement follows a clear path. No ambiguity, no surprises.

1

Discovery

We learn your operation, map the pain points, and define what success looks like. No assumptions — just questions and answers.

2

Design

Architecture, specifications, and a detailed scope. You see what we'll build and how long it takes before a single line of code is written.

3

Build

We build in sprints with regular check-ins. You see working software throughout, not just at the end. Feedback is continuous.

4

Support

Launch is the starting line, not the finish. We monitor, maintain, and evolve the systems we build as your needs change.

What our clients say

Don’t take our word for it

Brown Dog rebuilt our entire monitoring infrastructure. We went from blind spots across 30 sites to full visibility in under three months. The alerting alone has saved us from two major incidents.

JM
John Mitchell
VP of Operations, Acme Corp

We needed a custom inventory system that handled heavy machinery — not retail products. Brown Dog understood the difference from day one. The asset tracking has been flawless.

SR
Sarah Richardson
Operations Manager, Lakeview Equipment

Their network design for our new facility was done right. Structured cabling, firewall rules, VPN access — all documented and turnkey. We plugged in and it just worked.

ABOUT US

Engineering-first, always

Brown Dog Solutions is a software and infrastructure engineering company. We build custom tools, design networks, and architect data centers for companies that can’t afford downtime.

We started by solving our own operational problems — monitoring thousands of devices across dozens of sites, managing logistics at scale, keeping systems online around the clock. The tools we built worked. So we started building them for others.

Our team brings deep experience across software engineering, network architecture, and physical infrastructure. We understand the full stack — from the application layer down to the power distribution unit.

1

Build it right the first time

We don't ship prototypes disguised as products. Every system we deliver is production-grade from day one.

2

Own the full stack

Software without infrastructure knowledge is half the picture. We design both so they work together.

3

Uptime is non-negotiable

Our systems monitor themselves, alert on anomalies, and recover automatically where possible.

4

No vendor lock-in

We build on open standards and portable architectures. Your systems belong to you.

Andrew McKinney

FOUNDER & LEAD ENGINEER

Multi-company operator with deep roots in infrastructure engineering, network architecture, and full-stack development. Andrew founded Brown Dog Solutions to bring enterprise-grade operational tooling to companies that need reliability without the enterprise price tag.

When systems need to stay online, facilities need monitoring, and operations need visibility — that’s the work we show up for.

FAQ

Common questions

It depends on scope. A monitoring dashboard or internal tool typically takes 6-10 weeks from kickoff to production. Larger projects like full facility network builds or multi-system integrations run 3-6 months. We give you a detailed timeline during the Design phase before any build work starts.
Yes. We support clients internationally. Software projects are location-independent, and for physical infrastructure work (network installs, camera systems, data center builds), we coordinate with trusted local partners in-region.
Every project includes a post-launch support window. Beyond that, we offer ongoing maintenance agreements that cover monitoring, updates, and priority response. Our systems are built to alert us before you know there’s an issue.
Absolutely. Most of our projects involve integrating with existing infrastructure — whether that’s legacy databases, third-party APIs, existing network equipment, or building automation systems. We map your current stack during Discovery and design around it.
We scope and price every project individually based on complexity, timeline, and support requirements. Reach out through the contact form with a rough description of what you need, and we’ll provide a free initial assessment with ballpark pricing within one business day.
Yes. You own everything we build for you — full source code, documentation, and deployment configurations. No vendor lock-in. If you ever want to bring maintenance in-house or switch providers, you have everything you need to do so.
